About the role

This role involves leading the ZEOS Portal and Portal Application team, which is responsible for developing a central gateway for partners within the Zalando ecosystem. The manager will guide engineers in creating a seamless, high-performance, and intuitive user interface that integrates complex B2B services. Key responsibilities include shaping a scalable full-stack architecture and ensuring the portal's stability across both frontend and backend.

The Engineering Manager will empower and grow a diverse team of 10 engineers, split evenly between frontend and backend specializations. This includes hiring new talent and fostering their development. Success in this position means providing technical guidance for architectural decisions, particularly concerning Micro Frontends, and acting as a catalyst for Agile best practices to ensure smooth delivery.

The position requires a strong focus on operational health, taking full ownership of the portal's infrastructure and services. This includes managing cloud-native deployments and maintaining a 'DevOps' mentality. The manager will also collaborate closely with Product and UX Design leads to bridge design concepts with engineering execution, making technical trade-offs across the full stack.
