Staff Software Engineer (Platform - FinEng)

What you'll do:

• Own the multi-year technical strategy and architecture for Coinbase's financial data pipelines, reporting systems, and operational infrastructure.
• Drive the design and delivery of new backend services in Golang.
• Lead high-stakes initiatives to improve the accuracy, timeliness, and auditability of financial data.
• Partner cross-functionally with Finance, Accounting, Tax, Compliance, and other Platform teams.
• Shape the team's technical culture by mentoring senior engineers and establishing architectural patterns.

Required Skills and Experience:

• 8+ years of backend software development experience.
• Led platform-building efforts that transformed fragmented services into coherent systems.
• Deep expertise in Go (or similar backend languages).
• Track record of setting technical direction across teams.
• Proven ability to translate complex financial, accounting, or compliance requirements into maintainable systems.
• Utilizes generative AI responsibly.

Pay Transparency Notice:

• Base salary varies by location. Total compensation may also include equity and bonus eligibility, and benefits (medical, dental, vision, 401(k)).
• Annual base salary range (excluding equity and bonus): $218,025 — $256,500 USD.
