Data Protection Engineer

This role involves implementing and maintaining data loss prevention (DLP) controls and tools across diverse operating systems like iOS and Chrome, as well as decentralized data environments. A key aspect is driving automation within DLP engineering and operations, utilizing large language models and agentic AI to streamline processes. The engineer will also collaborate with other teams to deploy data protection technologies and support broader security initiatives.

Success in this position means effectively protecting the Coinbase ecosystem from security threats by building robust DLP capabilities. This includes creating scalable, automated security processes and contributing to the long-term data protection strategy by working with risk assessment teams. The role requires regular monitoring and reporting of metrics to keep leadership informed about data protection status.

The company operates as remote-first but incorporates quarterly in-person working sessions called “surges.” The ideal candidate will have a background in security engineering, specifically with direct experience in implementing enterprise DLP programs and operating insider threat technologies. A responsible approach to generative AI, coupled with human oversight, is also expected.

The base salary for this role ranges from $75,000 to $125,000, with total compensation potentially including equity, bonuses, and benefits.

• Utilizes generative AI responsibly, maintaining human oversight.

• Base salary range: $75K - $125K.
