Role in brief
Bitso seeks a Director of Engineering for Trust & Safety to lead teams responsible for identity, access, and account protection systems, ensuring compliance and driving fraud detection for its Latin American cryptocurrency platform. This role suits a senior engineering leader with experience in high-stakes production environments and a background in regulated industries like fintech or crypto.
About the role
This Director of Engineering role focuses on leading the Trust & Safety domain, overseeing systems critical for user identity, access, and account security. The position requires ensuring the availability and reliability of these systems, treating uptime as a core product feature with defined service level objectives and a robust incident response discipline. A key aspect involves driving the fraud detection roadmap to reduce account takeovers and minimize friction for legitimate users.
The role involves end-to-end ownership of compliance and regulatory reporting across four jurisdictions. This requires close collaboration with Compliance, Legal, and Risk teams to ensure accurate, auditable, and timely reporting. The successful candidate will also be responsible for setting engineering standards and holding teams accountable for the post-launch quality and reliability of their deliverables.
Leadership responsibilities include developing and growing four engineering managers and their respective squads, focusing on hiring, performance, and technical quality. The Director will lead an AI-native engineering team, aiming to enhance development speed and quality through modern, spec-driven practices. Success in this position means operating effectively across functions and countries, building influence and credibility with leaders in Product, Security, Fraud, and Compliance.
The annual salary for this position ranges from $150,000 to $250,000 USD.
