Internal Audit Analytics Associate

About the role

This role focuses on delivering data-driven assurance for Coinbase's technology infrastructure. The associate will conduct in-depth data analysis to evaluate the effectiveness of IT and security controls, writing complex SQL queries against platforms like Snowflake. A key part of the work involves validating system and model changes, documenting their compliance and performance impact for various stakeholders.

The position also requires producing accurate data extracts and reports from multiple sources, translating audit requests into actionable outputs. The base salary for this position ranges from $131,195 to $138,100 USD, excluding potential equity and bonus eligibility.

What you'll do

• Execute in-depth data analysis to assess IT and security control effectiveness by writing complex, reusable SQL queries against Snowflake and other internal data platforms.
• Validate system and model changes by performing comprehensive testing of their compliance and performance impact, documenting results for relevant stakeholders.
• Produce accurate data extracts and reports from multiple sources, translating complex audit data requests into clear, actionable requirements and outputs.
• Test data ETL processes from upstream production systems into the data repository and from the repository into enterprise tools, validating completeness and accuracy at each stage.
• Design and enhance metrics dashboards to measure IT and security system performance and provide actionable insights to the Internal Audit team.
• Partner cross-functionally with Engineering, Security, and IT stakeholders to gather audit evidence and communicate findings to technical and non-technical audiences.

Required Skills and Experience

• 2+ years of experience in a data analytics role at a technology, consulting, financial institution, or fintech firm.
• Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field.
• Demonstrated ability to write complex SQL queries and work with large datasets in platforms such as Snowflake, including query optimization and reusable code patterns.
• Working knowledge of IT operations, security infrastructure, cybersecurity programs, and enterprise technology stacks sufficient to identify control gaps.
• Experience testing or validating data ETL workflows, including data completeness and accuracy checks across pipeline stages.
• Utilizes generative AI responsibly, maintaining human oversight to deliver business-ready outputs and drive measurable improvements in workflow efficiency, cost, and quality.

What the Company Offers

• Base salary range (excluding equity and bonus): $131,195—$138,100 USD.
• Total compensation may also include equity and bonus eligibility, and benefits (medical, dental, vision, 401(k)).
