Product Designer II, Design Systems

About the role

This role involves owning the iterative enhancement of design system components and patterns, ensuring their scalability across web and mobile platforms. The Product Designer II will drive new system features from initial concept through prototyping, user testing, and final production delivery. A key aspect of the work is collaborating with design and engineering teams across the company to define, document, and promote scalable design patterns.

The position requires active participation in design reviews, where the designer will seek specific feedback and incorporate relevant input to elevate quality standards. The individual will also be responsible for executing the design systems product roadmap and contributing to the long-term strategic direction of the systems. Coinbase operates as a remote-first company, though it is not remote-only, with quarterly in-person working sessions called "surges." The Design Systems team is central to the company's mission of increasing economic freedom globally. This role offers the opportunity to significantly impact the user experience by building foundational design elements that support all Coinbase products.

The annual base salary for this role ranges from $144,500 to $170,000 USD, with total compensation potentially including equity, bonus eligibility, and benefits.

• 3+ years of professional product design experience, including a focus specifically on design systems
• Demonstrated experience designing scalable components and systems for consumer-facing web and mobile products
• Proficiency with AI design tools (e.g., Figma Make, Vercel V0, Cursor) applied to systems-level work
• Expert-level Figma skills including prototyping design system components within product screens
• Proven track record collaborating cross-functionally with engineers, user researchers, and product teams to ship systems at scale
• Utilizes generative AI responsibly, maintaining human oversight to deliver business-ready outputs and drive measurable improvements in workflow efficiency, cost, and quality.

Pay Transparency Notice:

• Base salary varies by location (see range below). Total compensation may also include equity and bonus eligibility, and benefits (medical, dental, vision, 401(k)).
• Annual base salary range (excluding equity and bonus): $144,500 — $170,000 USD
