About the role

This role focuses on supporting Binance's legal efforts in Brazil, specifically by managing regulatory applications, authorizations, and licenses. The counsel will drive the implementation of legal strategy within the region, proactively identifying potential legal issues and developing solutions to support local teams. Success in this position means effectively navigating Brazil's regulatory landscape to ensure Binance's operations comply with local laws and enable business growth.

The Regulatory Counsel will also be responsible for drafting and reviewing legal documents, including contracts and agreements, while providing risk assessments. This involves supporting business teams in launching new products and services by bridging commercial objectives with regulatory requirements. The role requires a proactive approach to staying informed about legal framework developments and aligning internal stakeholders on legal matters.

Beyond direct legal tasks, this position includes training non-legal associates to enhance legal understanding across the company. The counsel will advise on solutions for identified issues, taking prudent risks within the overall business context. This work contributes to building an inclusive financial ecosystem and advancing financial access through digital assets and blockchain technology.

The annual salary for this position ranges from $150,000 to $270,000 USD.

• Support Binance’s Brazil efforts in considering, analysing and applying for any legal subjects such as local approvals, authorisations or licenses
• Drive the development and implementation of group legal strategy and contribute to the development of the organization’s general business strategy
• Proactively identify legal problems, solutions, and potential support needed to provide more strategic support to local teams
• Handle regulatory approvals, authorisation and licenses including related analysis and applications
• Assist in negotiation of contracts for different business lines in the ecosystem, and support in a variety of transactional and corporate governance initiatives
• Be responsible for drafting and reviewing legal documents and provide holistic risk assessment and suggestions to enhance business value while mitigating downside risk across multiple areas of the company
• Support the business teams in the launch and development of new products and services - navigating between the commercial and regulatory worlds
• Provide legal business partner training and counsel non-legal associates to enable stronger legal acumen across the company
• Be responsible for drafting and reviewing contracts and agreements and provide holistic risk assessment and suggestions to enhance business value while mitigating downside risk
• Anticipate and maintain up-to-date knowledge of current laws relevant to your own substantive area to provide strategic advice and foster compliance
• Identify legal framework developments, align and promote consistency of approach in legal matters between the internal stakeholders
• Take prudent risks within the context of the overall business, and advise and implement solutions to address issues identified

• Qualified to practise law in a Brazil jurisdiction
• Between 4 to 6 years of relevant legal experience at a global law firm, and/or as a corporate counsel at financial industry of a fast-paced technology company
• Regulatory experience with Brazilian Central Bank and Comissão de Valores Mobiliarios is ideal
• Possesses a very strong sense of team spirit and cross-functional collaboration
• Possesses solid legal technical expertise as well as sound business and people judgement sense
• Hands on at work and can be independent in managing complex projects
• Can develop relevant and creative solutions to meet current and evolving business needs
• Excellent legal drafting and interpretation skills

• Excellent command of written and spoken English and Portuguese
