Senior Backend Engineer (Sports & Prediction Markets)

About the role

This role focuses on developing and optimizing robust backend services for Crypto.com's sports and prediction markets. The engineer will design scalable systems in Golang that handle high-throughput, 24/7 global trading applications. This includes proposing architectural decisions, participating in design reviews, and implementing features tailored to real-time sports data feeds and interactive mechanics.

A core aspect of the position is to act as a technical subject matter expert, embedding deep sports domain knowledge into the backend. The engineer will identify and resolve architectural bottlenecks within a large-scale, high-concurrency infrastructure, ensuring flawless system availability. This also involves providing high-tier operational support for complex, real-time client issues.

The salary for this position ranges from $130,000 to $160,000 USD annually.

• Develop backend services and operations, including proposing architectural decisions, participating in design reviews, coding, code review, and implementing features.
• Act as the technical subject matter expert to increase and embed deep sports domain knowledge into our core backend, building features tailored to prediction markets, real-time sports data feeds, and interactive mechanics.
• Identify, diagnose, and resolve architectural bottlenecks within a large-scale, high-concurrency infrastructure.
• Operational Support: Provide high-tier technical operational support to address complex, real-time client issues and maintain flawless systemic availability.

Minimum Qualifications (Must-Haves):

• Solid mid-to-senior level professional experience specializing in backend system development, with an absolute proficiency and production-level mastery.
• Proven experience working closely with Sports systems, Sportsbooks, Prediction markets, or high-velocity sports-data infrastructure.
• Proficiency in Golang, Postgres, Redis, and Kafka preferred.
• Communication & Collaboration: Elite interpersonal skills with a strong capacity for stakeholder management; comfortable navigating cross-functional, global matrix teams and managing competing project priorities.

Preferred Qualifications (Nice-to-Haves / Ideal Fits):

• Deep familiarity with transaction-heavy, money-related modules, or payment ledgers.
• Advanced expertise in designing complex concurrent systems, race-condition mitigation, and distributed state machines.
