Senior DevOps Engineer

About the role

This role focuses on operating, scaling, and securing Incode's production systems, which are central to their identity solutions. The engineer will be responsible for evolving cloud-native infrastructure, with an emphasis on reliability, observability, and automation. A key part of the work involves building and maintaining Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and Helm Charts to ensure consistency across environments.

The Senior DevOps Engineer will also implement and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines, aiming for fast, secure, and developer-friendly deployment processes. Incident response and root cause analysis are critical components, requiring the ability to lead post-incident learning and implement durable fixes. Improving monitoring and alerting systems to reduce noise and enhance signal detection is also expected.

Success in this position means partnering with security teams to implement controls that meet audit requirements without hindering development velocity. The role also involves improving developer experience by automating tasks and documenting processes. Participation in a weekly 24x7 on-call rotation is required, demanding prompt response and clear escalation for customer-impacting issues.

The salary for this position ranges from $98,000 to $162,000 USD.

What You’ll Own & Drive

• Production Kubernetes: Operate, scale, and evolve cloud-native infrastructure with a strong bias toward reliability, observability, and automation.
• Infrastructure as Code: Build and maintain Terraform and Helm Charts with real depth, driving consistency and repeatability across environments.
• CI/CD at Scale: Implement and maintain pipelines that are fast, secure, and developer-friendly, shortening the path from merge to deploy.
• Incident Response & Root Cause: Lead incidents when they hit, run blameless post-incident learning, and ship the durable fix - not just the patch.
• Observability That Earns Trust: Improve monitoring and alerting to cut noise, surface real signal, and reduce on-call burnout.
• Pragmatic Security & Compliance: Partner with security to implement controls that hold up to audit without crippling velocity, keeping secrets management, access controls, and network boundaries sane and defensible.
• Developer Experience: Treat operational pain as a bug. Automate, document, and pave the road for the engineers shipping on top of your platform.
• On-Call Ownership: Participate in the team’s weekly 24x7 rotation (handoff Mondays ~11am PT). Respond promptly, escalate cleanly, and own customer-impacting issues through to resolution.

Your Background

• 7+ years of experience in DevOps, SRE, or infrastructure engineering roles.
• Strong hands-on experience operating Kubernetes in production - not just standing it up.
• Deep familiarity with at least one major cloud provider (AWS strongly preferred).
• Proven depth in Infrastructure as Code - Terraform and Helm Charts are essential, not nice-to-haves.
• Experience implementing and maintaining CI/CD systems at scale.
• Strong Linux fundamentals and real production debugging skills.
• Comfortable with a weekly 24x7 on-call rotation and the responsiveness it demands.

Nice to have:

• Experience operating MongoDB, PostgreSQL, or other stateful systems in production.
• Familiarity with security tooling, certificate management, or compliance frameworks.
• Background in SaaS operations or environments with real uptime, security, or regulatory stakes.
• Track record of improving developer experience through tooling and automation.
