Role in brief
Discord is seeking a Senior Full-Stack Software Engineer for its Social Commerce team. This role involves building cross-platform purchase flows and social gifting experiences, integrating commerce directly into social spaces for gamers. It suits engineers with strong full-stack skills who enjoy collaborating on new product development and navigating ambiguity to deliver user-centric features.
About the role
This role focuses on developing social commerce features for Discord's platform, specifically creating cross-platform purchase flows and social gifting experiences. The goal is to integrate in-game digital goods transactions directly into Discord's social environment, allowing players to buy and gift items within chat, DMs, and game communities. This involves working with game studio partners to ensure seamless integration and enhance the gaming experience for millions of users.
The Social Commerce team launched recently and has already seen success with its initial product. As a senior engineer, you will lead projects from scoping through design, building, shipping, and iteration, using experiment results to guide development. This position requires a full-stack approach, contributing to various parts of the system to deliver scalable and elegant code.
Success in this role means continually raising the quality of the software, collaborating closely with product managers, designers, and game developers to navigate product ambiguity. You will be instrumental in shaping a new product area where the development playbook is still being written, requiring a proactive and adaptable approach to problem-solving and feature delivery.
The US base salary range for this full-time position is between $196,000 and $220,500, not including equity or benefits.
