This Staff Development Experience Engineer role focuses on enhancing the developer experience within Galaxydigitalservices, a company operating at the intersection of finance and technology, with a strong presence in digital assets and AI infrastructure. The position requires leading technical direction for DevEx initiatives, including designing and implementing solutions that streamline development workflows. Success in this role means establishing robust CI/CD pipelines, managing GitOps processes, and ensuring consistent developer environments across various platforms.

A core responsibility involves owning the CI/CD landscape, which includes standardizing build, test, and release workflows using tools like Jenkins and GitHub. This encompasses creating reusable pipelines, shared libraries, and policy gates to ensure efficient and secure software delivery. The engineer will also be crucial in operating and evolving Flux-based GitOps for environment promotion and drift detection across multiple Kubernetes clusters, ensuring smooth and reliable deployments.

The role also extends to defining and maintaining Helm chart standards, release processes, and documentation for service teams. This includes designing guardrails and multi-tenant patterns on Kubernetes platforms like EKS, and supporting other distributions. The engineer will build consistent developer workflows across AWS and on-premise data centers, ensuring seamless connectivity and artifact flows, while also establishing SLOs for platform services and integrating observability tools.

The compensation for this role is between $112,000 and $188,000 USD, in addition to a discretionary bonus and comprehensive benefits.

What You’ll Do:

• Lead & deliver: Set technical direction, break down roadmaps, and lead engineers through design, implementation, and rollout of DevEx initiatives.
• Own CI/CD: Standardize build/test/release workflows using Jenkins and GitHub (Actions/Apps), with reusable pipelines, shared libraries, and policy gates.
• Run GitOps at scale: Operate and evolve Flux-based GitOps for environment promotion, rollback, and drift detection across multiple clusters.
• Package & deploy: Define and maintain Helm chart standards, release processes, and documentation for service teams.
• Kubernetes platform: Design guardrails, multi-tenant patterns, and golden templates on EKS (and support for GKE/Rancher/other distros where applicable).
• Hybrid environments: Build consistent developer workflows spanning AWS and on-prem datacenters/virtualization platforms; ensure connectivity, secrets, and artifact flows work end-to-end.
• Observability & reliability: Establish SLOs for platform services; integrate logs/metrics/traces, progressive delivery, and automated rollback.
• Security & compliance: Embed security scanning, SBOMs, and policy-as-code into pipelines and cluster admission.
• Enablement: Produce high-quality docs, examples, CLI/templates, and run office hours to uplevel teams.
• Stakeholder management: Partner with Security, SRE, and product teams; communicate trade-offs and progress to engineering leadership.
• Embrace and champion the thoughtful adoption of AI to improve team performance and business outcomes.
• Leverage AI tools (e.g., generative AI, automation platforms, data copilots) to improve productivity, decision-making, and output quality in your day-to-day work.

What We’re Looking For:

• 7+ years in platform/devops/SRE roles, including 2+ years leading or mentoring engineers.
• Track record of delivering platform capabilities used by many teams.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management; able to write crisp design docs and present trade-offs.
• Leadership: Proven technical leadership for platform/DevEx/infra teams; mentorship and cross-team influence.
• Core tech (hands-on):
• Environments: Significant experience in AWS and On-Prem (physical datacenters/servers/virtualization platforms).
• Software delivery: CI/CD design, artifact/version strategies, trunk-based development, environment promotion.
• SRE fundamentals: Reliability, capacity planning, incident playbooks, post-incident improvement.
• Bonus Points:
• Kubernetes variants: Experience with GKE, Rancher, or other managed/self-hosted distros.
• Migrations: Cloud breadth: Exposure to Azure and Google Cloud.
• Tooling depth: Policy engines (OPA/Gatekeeper/Kyverno), service mesh, progressive delivery (Argo Rollouts/Flagger), artifact registries, secrets management (e.g., AWS Secrets Manager/HashiCorp Vault).
• Infrastructure as Code: Terraform/Crossplane and configuration management.
• Programming: Proficiency in one or more languages used for platform automation (e.g., Go, Python, TypeScript).
