Analytics Engineer - Crypto and Payments

About the role

This position focuses on developing and scaling data infrastructure to support MoonPay's operations within the decentralized economy. The primary objective is to build robust data models and pipelines that track all crypto and fiat movements, enabling accurate reconciliation, internal reporting, and ad-hoc analysis. This involves working with backend services and external data sources to create a comprehensive view of financial transactions.

A key responsibility is the development of "The Ledger," a system designed to track all financial movements from various wallet and exchange data sources. This role requires designing and implementing a company-wide approach to reconciliation for cash, crypto, and payments data. Success in this role means providing reliable data solutions for new product flows, crypto inventory balances, and cost basis reporting, ensuring financial accuracy and transparency.

The role involves close collaboration with both finance and crypto engineering teams. This includes investigating issues related to crypto delivery timing or payment reconciliation, and understanding the specific needs of accounting and finance to build custom tables and reports. The ideal candidate will be able to translate financial requirements into data solutions and adapt to a dynamic environment.

The salary range for this position is between $122,000 and $212,200 USD.

• Build robust data models and infrastructure downstream of backend services and external data sources, which support reconciliation, internal reporting, and ad-hoc analysis.
• Develop “The Ledger”, which tracks all our crypto and fiat movements from wallet and exchange data sources.
• Design, build, and scale a MoonPay-wide approach to reconciliation for cash, crypto, and payments data using both internal and external data sources.
• Conduct specific analysis and build data solutions for new product flow of funds, crypto inventory balances, or cost basis reporting.
• Collaborate with the finance team and the crypto engineering team to conduct investigations into issues, such as crypto delivery timing, or payments reconciliation.
• Work closely with accounting and finance to understand their needs, and build custom tables and reporting to support their efforts.

• Advanced SQL and data modelling are second nature to you.
• You have a vision and enthusiasm for architecting and building robust data models to contribute to our current ecosystem of data products.
• You have the versatility and willingness to learn new technologies on the job and adapt quickly to changing priorities within a very dynamic environment.

Nice-to-have experience:

• You have experience and/or a strong interest in working directly with a finance team, interest in Accounting, Financial Audits, or Financial Reporting is a plus.
