Role in brief
Coinbase is seeking a Deputy Chief Regulatory Officer for its Derivatives unit. This role involves leading compliance and regulatory efforts, managing examinations, and advising on CFTC regulations. Candidates with significant experience in CFTC-registered designated contract markets or derivatives clearing organizations, and a strong background in regulatory compliance, should apply.
About the role
This role involves significant leadership within Coinbase Derivatives' Market Regulation Department, acting as the second-in-command. The Deputy Chief Regulatory Officer will ensure continuity in leadership and decision-making, particularly in the absence of the Chief Regulatory Officer. A core responsibility is to drive the company's compliance with all relevant CFTC regulatory requirements, which includes identifying and addressing any compliance gaps through corrective actions.
A key part of the position is managing both internal and external examinations and audits. This includes coordinating responses to findings and ensuring timely resolution of any issues that arise. The role also requires close collaboration with trade surveillance personnel, reviewing escalated cases, and assessing potential rulebook violations to determine appropriate enforcement actions. This ensures the integrity of trading practices and adherence to regulatory standards.
Success in this role means strengthening cross-functional alignment across Coinbase Derivatives. This involves advising various personnel and partner teams on DCM Core Principles, CFTC regulations, and the company's own rulebook and policies. The individual will need to synthesize complex regulatory observations into clear written communications for various stakeholders, including regulators, demonstrating a strong ability to manage multiple regulatory workstreams concurrently while maintaining quality and meeting deadlines.
The listed annual base salary range for this position is between $179,520 and $211,200 USD, which does not include potential equity or bonus compensation.
