Manager, Technical Accounting

About the role

This role focuses on technical accounting and financial reporting within Circle, a company building financial platforms with digital assets and blockchain infrastructure. The Manager will conduct research on complex accounting issues, draft position papers, and contribute to the review of financial statements. A key part of the job involves analyzing emerging accounting standards and advising on their impact on the company, particularly concerning digital assets and blockchain transactions.

The position requires maintaining and developing accounting policies and procedures, working closely with various internal teams to ensure these are operationalized. Success in this role means effectively documenting complex transactions, supporting SEC filings, and liaising with external auditors and industry bodies. The manager will also partner with commercial teams to provide accounting insights for new products and contract structuring.

The salary for this full-time remote position ranges from $140,000 to $185,000 USD.

• Support the overall accounting function and provide hands-on support over technical accounting and reporting.
• Research technical accounting matters and draft related position papers.

• Implement and educate global accounting and cross-functional teams on necessary changes.
• Partner with commercial teams to advise on accounting outcomes as part of the structuring of contracts and development of new products.
• Evaluate and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the Company’s accounting policies and processes.

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Business and Certified Public Accountant or International equivalent.
• 7+ years of relevant work experience, including public accounting and industry-specific experience.
• Strong technical knowledge of US GAAP.
• Proven ability to support financial reporting functions and manage auditor relationships on technical matters.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Excellent time-management and organizational skills.
• Ability to effectively facilitate and present in group meetings.
• Proven ability to work cross-functionally and adapt to change.
• Experience working in or with large/listed companies.
• Experience working with SOX 404 and internal controls over financial reporting or similar control framework.
• Demonstrated professional commitment, initiative, accountability, and ownership of assignments.
• Experience working in regulated business, financial services, or technology industries are a plus.
• Experience/familiarity with Workiva or other reporting software, Slack, Apple MacOS, and GSuite.
• Experience/familiarity with AI tools to drive efficiency and accelerate accounting research and drafting of technical position papers.
