(Senior) Backend Engineer, Marketplace

About the role

This role involves developing and maintaining backend services, primarily using Go, for Wheely's Marketplace team. The engineer will be responsible for implementing new microservices and assisting in the migration from older systems. The engineer will work closely with product managers, designers, and data scientists to translate abstract requirements into concrete technical designs. The annual salary for this position ranges from $55,000 to $85,000.

• Write high-quality, performant code primarily in Go.

• 3+ years of experience (5+ years for seniors) building and maintaining scalable backend services. We use Go. If you know it, great. If not, we’ll interview you in your strongest language (Python, C++, Java, Ruby, etc.). We hire for engineering fundamentals, not syntax.
• In-depth knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis) and experience with message brokers like RabbitMQ or Kafka.
• Upper-Intermediate (B2) English proficiency or higher. You should be comfortable debating technical trade-offs with your peers.
