Senior DevOps Engineer

About the role

This role focuses on building and maintaining the cloud infrastructure that powers Risk Labs' protocols, UMA and Across. The engineer will be responsible for system architecture design, implementing infrastructure as code using Terraform, and ensuring the reliability and scalability of these decentralized systems. This includes creating robust CI/CD processes and developing comprehensive monitoring and alerting systems to track performance and identify anomalies.

A key aspect of this position is enhancing security. The Senior DevOps Engineer will work with leadership to develop and scale security systems and processes, moving beyond manual permission management to automate the security stack. This involves managing sensitive data, key storage, and implementing best practices for private information. Proactive problem-solving through the creation of internal tools is also expected.

Success in this role means establishing resilient, scalable, and secure operational foundations for Risk Labs' products. The engineer will enable the development team by providing reliable infrastructure and efficient deployment mechanisms, while also safeguarding the protocols from potential threats. The team operates remotely, supporting protocols governed by a global community.

The listed salary range for this role is $100,000 to $200,000, paid in stablecoins or fiat, with additional token participation.

• Terraform: This role requires building infrastructure in a cloud-native environment using Terraform, including system architecture and continuous deployment.
• Bash: Fluency in Bash is needed for scripting and automation tasks within the DevOps responsibilities.
• Python: Fluency in Python is expected for scripting and automating various operational processes.
• GCP: Experience with Google Cloud Platform is beneficial for managing the company's cloud infrastructure.
• Solidity: While not a primary skill, familiarity with Solidity may be useful given the focus on decentralized protocols.

What You’ll Own:

• Our Cloud Stack: work with the engineering team to design the infrastructure to power our products and protocols. This will involve both system architecture and design as well as building out terraform and CD.
• Security and Permissioning: work with the leadership team to build out and scale our security systems and processes to protect our company, products, and protocols from attackers. Rather than manually managing permissions, you will own the automation of our security stack.
• Continuous Integration and Deployment: design CI/CD processes that are resilient, scalable, and useful. You will be responsible for the scaffolding that the engineering team builds within.
• Alerting and Monitoring: create monitoring systems that track important metrics and logs in a highly legible and accessible way, while making it easy for engineers to be alerted on anomalous behaviors.
• Internal Tooling: invent internal tooling to solve problems proactively, as you notice common needs and pain points.

Skills & Experience Required:

• 2+ years as a sysadmin, systems engineer, site reliability engineer, reliability engineer, or related role in a professional setting.
• Experience building infrastructure in a cloud native development environment using Terraform.
• Experience managing data, key storage, private information management best practices.
• Fluency in bash or python, with some experience in other languages.
• Passion for automation and designing tech stacks.
• Enthusiasm for AI-enabled workflows.

Nice to Have:

• Deep experience with GCP.
• Experience managing medium sized Github organizations with many repositories.
• Experience with web3 security, specifically in managing private keys, shared wallets, multisigs, etc.
