About the role

This engineering role at Soter Labs focuses on securing the Sky ecosystem by designing and implementing smart contract monitoring frameworks. The work involves researching monitoring approaches for various contract types, including L2 deployments, and collaborating with risk teams to define response protocols. The successful candidate will be responsible for the ongoing operation and evolution of these monitoring systems.

The position also includes managing the deployment and monitoring of vaults that hold substantial capital, and executing parameter changes based on governance requests. This work requires a meticulous approach due to the high financial value involved. The team operates with a high degree of autonomy and works closely with Sky Core and other ecosystem partners.

Success in this role means effectively safeguarding the Sky ecosystem's smart contracts and assets. This involves proactive problem-solving, identifying potential vulnerabilities, and proposing improvements to maintain system integrity. The role offers opportunities to take on additional projects aligned with ecosystem needs and individual strengths.

The base salary for this position ranges from $120,000 to $200,000 annually, with additional bonuses paid in cash or SKY tokens.

Skills that matter here

  • Solidity: Fluency in Solidity is required for understanding and securing smart contracts within the EVM environment.
  • Foundry: This tool is part of the development stack for building and testing smart contracts.
  • Hardhat: Used for development and deployment of smart contracts, indicating familiarity with common blockchain development environments.
  • TypeScript: This programming language is part of the technical stack, suggesting its use in supporting applications or tooling.
  • Tenderly: Experience with Tenderly is needed for monitoring and debugging smart contract interactions.
  • multisig-based ops: Familiarity with multisignature operations is relevant for secure management of high-value assets and protocol changes.

Who this role suits

  • A candidate who is genuinely curious about the Sky ecosystem and its vision, eager to contribute and grow within it.
  • Someone who approaches problems with a first-principles mindset, identifying gaps and proposing solutions proactively.
  • An individual comfortable with owning high-value production systems, demonstrating rigor in every deployment and transaction.
  • A person with a deep understanding of EVM security patterns, including access control, oracle mechanics, and upgradeability.

From the employer

  • Research and propose an approach for monitoring all smart contract types across the ecosystem, including L2 deployments; iterate on it with feedback from Sky Core devs and external partners
  • Implement the monitoring framework; collaborate with risk teams to define response processes and to operate and evolve the monitoring over time
  • Manage the deployment and monitoring of vaults holding hundreds of millions of dollars
  • Execute parameter changes driven by governance requests
  • Take on further projects, scoped based on ecosystem needs and your competencies
  • Eagerness to contribute to Sky: understanding of the Sky ecosystem, genuine curiosity and interest in the vision, and willingness to grow within the ecosystem
  • A first-principles problem solver: someone who identifies gaps others miss and proactively proposes improvements, rather than waiting for a spec
  • 5+ years of software engineering experience, with production EVM/smart contract work
  • Solidity fluency and deep understanding of EVM security patterns (access control, oracle mechanics, upgradeability, cross-chain/L2 messaging)
  • Comfort owning high-value production systems where mistakes are expensive and irreversible; you treat every deployment, transaction, and parameter change with the rigor that hundreds of millions of dollars demand
  • $120-200k base, pls bonuses paid in cash or SKY tokens
